As I read the readings for class this week, I became overwhelm with all the different forms of technology used in classrooms today. I began to wonder, "What happened to dry erase boards, index cards, and actual paper papers?" I've only been out of high school for about 4.5 years, but there is way more technology now than there was 4 years ago. Well, I guess my parents could say the same thing, but instead of saying 4 years, they would say about 20 years or so. It's amazing how technology changes at an incredible speed. Smaller, faster, and more versatile computers are created almost bi-annually. Cell phones have become so complex that its very rare someone only uses it to make a call.
My sister, who is a sophomore in high school, received a free laptop from her school (as a freshman) that she gets to use all four years of high school. Along with this laptop, she recieved her own e-mail address. She communicates with her teachers and turns in assignments with this e-mail/laptop. She has to create projects, reports, and papers and instead of handing them in, she e-mails them. I sometimes wonder why she even has to go to school. The school also has a website that allows students to access their assignments in case they are "absent from school for sickness". Really? I actually wouldn't be surprised if high schoolers didn't have to attend an actual school because all of their work is on the computer/internet.
However, I think technology is a great thing. We can instantly communicate with people whenever and wherever we want. It also allows us to multitask and share information at speeds our parents probably didn't think would ever be possible. I just hope we will be able to keep up with all the technology that continues to change and renew itself.

Wow! I heard that the students at Richland Northeast get laptops as well. I totally agree with you when you say eventually high school students want have to attend school at all. The high school teachers will probably begin to use adobe connect also!! I find myself thinking, "am I getting old or are times just rapidly changing?" It happens mostly when I am explaining something to my mom about her cell phone, DVR, or even the computer. Technology is really amazing and you definitely have to stay up with the latest trends or you could fall behind by some years!!!!
